A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Hello and Happy Summer! We just returned from a family reunion in Tacoma, Washington and returned via the Oregon Coast. How inspirational it is to see the magnificent ocean in action, the rocks, and so many unique bridges!
It’s time for summer woodworking – the shop is air conditioned! – making it comfortable on those hot summer days. I hope to see some of you around the school this summer.

Community Projects
Many thanks go to the people who helped update the benches at the Mount Diablo picnic areas. Paula Whitney, our liaison with the Masons group, is also a woodworker. What a great way to blend one’s two hobbies!
We also have another project in the works – Vicki Morse and a team are making two chairs for the Holiday season raffle, using a design by Michael Fortune. It’s been quite a while since we’ve had something to raffle off. The other project mentioned in May is cutting boards for the cooking classes, replacing the plastic ones presently in use. Details will be provided later. We will need volunteers and wood donations for that one.
We are still looking for members to join the Board of Directors!
We need a Communications Director and at least two at-large directors, whose function would be ultimately to replace retiring directors. Interested persons can send me a message at President@Diablowoodworkers.org, or other members of the Board of Directors.
We also would appreciate suggestions for speakers at our monthly meetings (except for the August picnic and December holiday party, of course) and volunteers to show off their shops or recommend professional shops. Again, contact me or another Board member.
I hope to see many of you at the Monthly Meeting on July 9th (on Zoom this month) and the Club Picnic on August 13.
Please have a happy and SAFE summer!
Best Regards,
Peggy
