A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome to the Holiday Season!

Now is the time to slow down a bit, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy the fruits of our labor in the shop. For many of us, this season is filled with the joy (and sawdust) of making gifts for loved ones — a reminder of why we enjoy this craft so much.

At our November 12 meetingGreg Mix will revisit the set of dining room chairs he began during his shop tour last May. Greg had a unique and thoughtful design approach, and it will be great to see how the finished pieces came together.

Later in the month, on November 22John and Beth Dzenitis will open their two-person shop for our next Shop Tour. They create beautiful work that combines wood and metal in creative ways — a tour you won’t want to miss! Please note: there will be no Shop Tour in December.

Finally, mark your calendars for the Pleasant Hill Adult Education Open House and Craft Fair on December 6. This annual event showcases the many talented makers across the school’s programs and raises funds to support the facility. If you have items to donate, please drop them off in Room 208 before December 3, when the team will begin pricing. Be sure your items have a proper finish (unless unfinished by design) — otherwise, they’ll be held for 2026! While you’re there, take time to visit the other classrooms and see the incredible variety of crafts created at the school.

Wishing everyone a productive and joyful holiday season!

Peggy Gipps

Help us build wood products to sell at the Craft Fair in December!

We are in great need of people to build items to sell at the fair.  Don’t have tools or wood?  We can help with that.  If you are interested, please contact Peggy Gipps (President@Diablowoodworkers.org) or another team member to ensure that you’re making something that will sell.  We really want to hear from you!

The Craft Fair was started to raise money for tools in the classroom on the Diablo Middle School campus.  We also use it for tool repair parts and sometimes, to buy wood for fair items.  So, the funds go back into the school.

We have created and uploaded plans for Craft Fair projects that can be found HERE! (members only)
