Diablo WoodWorkers Club - President's Message
As we move to close 2024 and the season to be thankful, I am very confident that the club founders would be proud to see the club is growing and thriving. Key factors supporting our mission of shared learning and community involvement include:
- Enhanced Communications through our monthly newsletters and website. The website provides a detailed schedule of all upcoming club activities, including a summary of the upcoming school semester. The newsletter has been spot-on in capturing the things we build and the good we do.
- Community Projects. We continued our main support of the Pleasant Hill middle school wood shop by helping them prepare for the 2024 school year by fixing workbench vises and a bandsaw, building a special table for scroll saws, and a whole list of “to do”s from the instructor. Other projects included building an ornate simulated mirror for Concord HS used in their dance routines plus assembly of four owl boxes for the parks in Moraga.
- MDAE Shop Maintenance and Upgrades. In what has been a continuing and sustained effort over the last 4 years DWW Club has led the efforts to restore and upgrade every area in the woodshop, including (and not limited to) the tool room, a new sharpening room, upgraded table saw sleds, the storerooms for both wood and supplies.
I would like to personally express my gratitude to all the members who have so willingly contributed to our success. We are just getting started on this journey, and we welcome and need more volunteers. Happy Holidays everyone – hope to see you at the Holiday Party.
Thanks,
Tom
