About this event
Morgan Strickland
It was early 2018 when I decided to explore fine woodworking. Up until then, my woodworking experience was limited to weekend carpentry projects around the house - remodeling bathrooms, building decks, pergolas, kitchen cabinets, that sort of thing – all with power tools. All self-taught.
My journey into fine woodworking started in February 2018 when I went to study with Gary Rogowski in Portland for a week. After that, there was no turning back, I was “all-in”. it was about that same time when I discovered the Diablo Woodworkers Club and attended one of the monthly meetings and eventually started taking classes through MDAE. In the subsequent three years, I’ve built approximately twenty-five pieces of furniture. When I try and describe to the uninitiated my passion for building furniture, I say it feels sort of like running downhill. There’s a certain momentum that happens that I can’t explain. At the ripe age of 61, I feel like I’ve found what I should be doing with my time.
I have a small single-car garage shop. But all 170 square feet of it is dedicated to nothing other than woodworking.
